Rachel Norris, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Norris loves practicing at Hampstead Animal Hospital! She believes the high quality of medicine practiced here really sets the hospital apart. She is particularly interested in feline medicine, oncology, and cytology and is very happy to be working with such a skilled, compassionate, and supportive staff.

Dr. Norris lives in Derry, NH with her family. When not at Hampstead Animal Hospital she loves hiking because of the physical challenge of it, and because it can be so relaxing and rewarding. She also enjoys horseback riding, especially when her horse, Rose, is up for a great trail ride.

Dr. Norris has quite a busy household! Over the years she and her family have adopted many pets. Winston was surrendered to the hospital where she worked as a tiny kitten. He’s very intelligent, plays hide and seek, and is a constant source of fun in their lives! Their other cat, Pumpkin, was adopted from an emergency clinic. He has a portosystemic shunt, which requires him to be on a prescription diet and medication to support his liver function. He is extremely sweet and mischievous. He loves to EXPLORE cabinets, play in his tunnel, or spend the day relaxing in his hammock.

They also have a lab/hound mix named Cooper, who is a rescue from Mississippi. He is very affectionate, loves to walk in the woods, and loves to be scratched. When you add in Dr. Norris’ horse, Rose, and six chickens that were recently added to the household – you have one busy place!

Dr. Norris went into the veterinary field because she loves helping animals and continually learning about medicine. She graduated from the University of Alaska with a degree in Biology and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Tennessee. Following graduation, she completed a one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston.
